Childhood Stage
From early childhood Draupadi Murmu was excellent in her
studies, though her family financially was not that good but after facing many
hardships she completed her studies and graduated in BA from Rama Devi
Women’s college. In an interview she had said that during her school days her original name “Puti” was changed by a teacher to Draupadi.
Married Life
She also revealed that
she had changed her name several times before her marriage.Earlier her surname
was Tudu but after her married to Shyam Charan Murmu her surname was changed.
Its was in 1980 she was married to Shyam Charan murmu a banker who passed away
in 2014 She also lost her two son but now she living with her only daughter.
Political Career
After completing her graduation she started teaching work as
a professor but later she joined political party and being elected as council
of Rairangpur Nagar Panchayat. As she was doing good works towards the
development of her place and for her party that’s BJP.Soon she was given the
post to become Jharkhand Governor. Later on she served her duty as a Minister
of State with Independent Charge for commerce and Transport, fisheries and
Animal Resources Development. As she was doing great work for the public she
was awarded with Nikantha Award as a best worker and MLA.
Santali Tribe And Culture
The place where Draupadi Murmu was born at Mayurbhanj
district of Odisha is one of the largest district of Odisha. As Draupadi Murmu
belongs to the Santhal Tribe creating history by becoming the first woman
tribal President of India. Santhal are one of the largest tribe in Jharkhand,
West Bengal, Odisha, Bihar and Assam. They mostly speak in santhali language.
The Santhal society is divided mainly in two division one brother (boeha) and
guest (pera) where children of same father or grandfather are called as nij
boeha .As they lived in the same village together so they can’t marry within
them. But those who are guest (pera) are called as member of other community
those non speaking Santali people with them they can marry.

But in regards to schedule tribe status presently only in
these states Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, Tripura state of India
Designated them schedule tribe where as in the North Eastern State people who
migrated during British Raj for tea plantation are called as Assam Tea Garden
Labour. These people are still fighting to get designated schedule tribe
status.
Also there many famous writer, politician, football player in Santhali tribe and how can one forget the great contribution of Sidhu Murmu and Kanhu Murmu
the leaders of the Santhal Rebellion who fought against the British and Zamindari
System.
